   For the price point this has worked well so far. Does take a long time to make a lot of ice, perhaps I over expected. Wouldn’t work for a party but could run it for a day or two before to make a large batch. Cube size is also fairly small. Also, basket fills quickly and paused if not emptied, so have to be close by to empty once full. But overall works for the price.

   If you dont have an ice maker in your fridge no worries this countertop ice maker is great. Makes ice quickly and continuously. Easy to use, just fill with water and select size of cubes. Keeps cubes frozen when full. Indicators for when ice maker is full of ice and out of water. Great for parties or hot summer days for cold drinks all day long. Fits under the countertop easily.

   Very disappointing that I bought this. I bought it for use on our boat, but in five hours of running the machine until it used all the water it could in the reservoir and the add water light came on, it made the ice that filled the zip lock bag in the photo. It makes very small (even when set to large) and very wet ice, so you’ll need to quickly put these little hollow bullet shaped cubes in a bag in a freezer. If you use them right away, they melt quickly. For this test, I let the machine make the ice and after each batch, I added to the Ziploc bag and put it in a big freezer. Given that this unit takes a very long time to make a significant amount of ice and the fact that once you get it to make you a batch of ice, you have to use it immediately, or put it in a bag in the freezer. We thought this might allow us to make ice for our boat, but frankly, making ice in our freezer cooler is better. I regret buying it, but it does make ice and it works as described. If you have no other way of making ice, this might be for you, but it’s quite large and not exactly quiet.

   This is my second ice maker. My first was an Ivation (the older model, not the terrible one they have available now). It worked great for about a year, then started making a horrible grinding noise right before it bit the dust.
   This ice maker is very similar except the buttons are on the lid, instead of behind it on the actual machine. No big deal there.
   I wish these machines included some kind of holder for the scoop. If you leave it inside where the ice drops, it will make the ice level higher and the machine will stop making ice (there’s a sensor for when the tray is full). I put mine on top of the machine behind the lid, but it’s not the best place for it.
   Anyway, after reading many reviews for these machines, and after my first one kicked in under a year, I decided to get the warranty with this one. None of these machines really hold up to the test of time. They are plastic with moving parts. The warranty was $12 for 4 years, that’s only $3 a year. Way better than trying to justify $100 per year just to have ice on demand.
   I think it’s worth shelling out a few extra bucks now for peace of mind later, because it will eventually break.
