Easy to use, makes ice every12-15 minutes from a standing start and looks good on the countertop. Ice cubes form around metal pegs so the are like little barrels – really cool (pardon the pun). They are stored in a little hopper in the front of the machine and are easy to get out. Just after a couple of hours of use in advance of your next gathering you will have plenty of ice stored up. The unit is very easy to drain and dry for long term storage. Overall, a very elegant solution for folks who entertain!

We have been trying out this ice maker for the past few days and it works great. I ordered it mostly for the summer. We have a pool party weekly and we go through ice like crazy. I am really excited to use this machine instead of constantly buying bags of ice. It works relatively fast. You get a “cycle” of ice about every 7-8 min, and a cycle gives you 9 ice cubes. I only had to fill it with water every 3 hours. The machine is insulated, but you can’t leave the ice in the machine for too long or it will melt (but it does just drips into the fill area and makes more ice). I just emptied the ice into a bag in the freezer whenever I went near the machine. So it is not something you just plug in and forget about. It is a bit loud in my opinion. It sounds like a fan or the blower on your oven.

I’m the girl who needs ice in my drinks, so I jumped at the chance to order this am through Icemaker.us.com Vine. I’ve got a built-in ice maker in my freezer, but I thought this would be nice to have for parties when a little extra ice might be useful.
This makes ice pretty quickly. After plugging it in, the first ice cubes dropped in well under 10 minutes and the basket was probably full within an hour. The ice tray is not cooled, so the cubes will continuously melt, but they just drip into the water bin & get re-frozen into new cubes. It runs relatively quietly, but you will hear some humming and the occasional drop of ice.
You can choose either small or large ice cubes, and the “cubes” aren’t truly cube-shaped–they’re cylindrical tubes, like what you find in bagged ice. I’d say the large setting is similar to most bagged ice and the small setting is about 30 percent smaller.
