We do not have an ice-maker on our fridge so this countertop model is a great fix for that. First, the ice is awesome and crunchy! Second, it makes ice pretty quickly and a lot of it. Third, it is super easy to use. I do hate the cleaning process and doing it weekly is a bit cumbersome, but that is part of the deal if I want ice. The unit is a little bigger than expected, so we have it on a butcher block table and not on our counters. This also makes the cleaning process a pain because I either have to move it over to the sink area weekly (it’s heavy!!) or I need to use a bucket. So, the cleaning process sucks, but all the rest outweighs that so still 5 stars from me.

After reading the stellar reviews, we decided to splurge for a more upscale ice maker. Upon opening the packaging, the machine gave off a strong unpleasant chemical smell, like it had been bleached or cleaned prior. Although the machine looked modern and sleek, we noticed the water chamber and ice tray had water droplets and moisture on the interior walls, indicating it had been used. We purchased this item new, and we strongly believe we were sent a used/returned item. Sadly returning. We recommend saving your money to avoid a similar situation.

This item arrived defective. It is sad because I followed directions, but water tank would not feed water into machine. I contacted Gevi to try to troubleshoot but they only trouble via email. I tried repeating the steps for set up, but low water indicator would not shut off. I went to You Tube and someone had suggested pouring water into bottom of ice bucket compartment and the light did go off and made amazing ice. However, it would not refill itself from the water tank. Icemaker.us.com is great and is exchanging it, but now I am concerned about Gevi customer service being difficult. I am rethinking GE Opal 2.0 only because they have phone customer service if any issues arise.
