Well it would work great if the lid was thicker or had better insulation. It struggles to keep the ice made from melting on the top level of the ice. And it’s not even summer yet. So I imagine it will really be a problem in the summer. It will probably over work it trying to keep up with melting and making ice.

We purchased this unit in late January 2024 so we could have ice while on the road in our RV. It worked great during our extended 45 day trip and we decided to bring it in the house and use it to supplement our refrigerators icemaker. We enjoyed using the ice very much Until this last week when it just stopped making ice. We tried to make sure it was clean, and we have only ever use filtered water in the unit to ensure debris stays out of the icemaker. The icemaker is dead to the world will not easily turn on and anytime we can get it to turn on the compressor gets extremely hot , and only makes loud noises instead of making any ice.

Was great until it wasn’t. Exactly 1 month after the warranty lapsed (13 months of use) it stopped working. The mechanics that scoop the fresh ice into the bin completely stopped functioning. I didn’t expect lifetime quality but 1 year is disappointing.

Y’all don’t know the struggle I had when it came to making and having ice. I’d have guest over and no ice. I don’t have a freezer, (no more than the fridge freezer) to store frozen foods and that wasn’t enough space for frozen foods and ice trays. This ice maker was a good investment, at a great price. I recommend this everyday all day.
I’m not choosey on what kind of ice it makes, as long as it makes it. It comes with an ice scoop and a basket for ice. When ice is done, I put it into freezer Ziploc bags.
Get you one before they get away!
