My wife asked me to buy an ice maker because it would be convenient for family gatherings, birthday parties, etc. Now, we have a refrigerator with an ice maker feature. However, we host most (90%) of social events in our sizeable backyard, and we put food, drink, and this ice maker on the table under the shaded gazebo. So, the guests, especially the kids, don’t need to go in and out of the house to get ice from the refrigerator. It is all about being convenient. We have used the ice maker a few times already, and we are very happy with the machine. The ice is small enough (really nugget size) for adults to make their own alcoholic drink, and I have observed the kids getting ice just to eat them; well, it has been hot in Southern California lately. If you have extra ice being made, I suggest putting them in the freeze. I do have one suggestion. If you are planning to use this ice maker for social gatherings, you may want to turn on the machine earlier so it allows some time for the ice machine to make ice before people start showing up.

Thankfully Icemaker.us.com allowed a return even though I ordered this in September (today is October 24th). All of a sudden this isn’t working at all? I turn it on and it immediately turns off, and makes a screeching noise. It worked perfectly fine ahead of this, just disappointed that such an expensive ice machine stopped just like that. I guess I should’ve been weary of the few low reviews before I ordered… because now it’s showing as a frequently returned product. Please do not buy if you need something reliable, because this is not!

Very very very noisy, having to clean it twice a week, black stuff & algae comes out I shake it and the more I shake it the more the gunk comes out!!! so gross I stopped using it after one month.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!

I’ve always wanted an ice maker for my RV and this definitely produces a lot of ice in a short amount of time. It has a sleek elegant design and is easy to set up and use. Performs as described and has a low hum but no louder than a small fan. A few things to note is that: 1- it is only an ice maker and does not keep the ice cool once made. There are holes in the bottom of the ice basket so the melted ice will be reused to make more ice. 2- make sure you drain the ice basket before bagging your ice or you will have lots of water in with your ice and will refreeze as one solid chunk of ice. 3- this is not a small unit and takes up a lot of counter space. Not ideal for a camper due to size but I will still use it at home to supplement our fridge ice maker.

Love the size of the ice. Really I don’t need that much ice at one time. The machine needs to be a little smaller. Maybe 20 lbs of ice.
At least a couple times aday, I’ve heard a loud noise coming from it?
I don’t like the awful sounds it make.
